Reserve refers to the number of eggs in the woman's ovaries and their quality in terms of reproductive activity. The chance of conceiving spontaneously or with medical treatment is reduced in women with reduced egg reserve. They have an increased risk of miscarriage when they become pregnant.
Egg freezing is the process of storing and freezing the eggs (oocyte) obtained from the woman's ovary. The purpose is to store these eggs so that they can be used in the future. Eggs are collected from women's ovaries with the help of vaginal ultrasonography and frozen in a laboratory environment. The intake process is the same as in IVF. When the egg cell is frozen, it is capable of reproduction and bears the characteristics of the donor woman's age. Healthy babies can be born from pregnancies provided by thawing these frozen eggs.

Initially, only patients who were going to be treated for cancer were allowed to freeze eggs. With the new regulations, women who meet the medical necessity conditions are given the right to freeze eggs. Well; All women with low egg reserve are given the right to freeze their eggs. Any woman who is medically proven to have a low egg reserve can freeze her eggs and get the chance to become a mother at any time. It doesn't matter if he's married or single.
Medical requirements for egg freezing in women:
- Presence of treatment planning that damages egg cells such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy.
- Necessity of surgery that may lead to loss of reproductive functions
- For women with low ovarian reserve and who have not yet given birth or with a family history of early menopause; If a health board report documenting the situation has been received.
In all three cases above, a woman's eggs can be frozen regardless of age.
To get information about the ovarian reserve; Ultrasound examination by gynecologist and obstetrician and AMH laboratory test are required. High ovarian reserve is an indication that the number of follicles in the ovaries of the woman is high and of good quality. It means a high probability of getting pregnant. As age progresses, especially after the age of 35, the number and quality of follicles decreases rapidly. The aging of the egg makes it harder to get pregnant.
A woman who has undergone egg freezing at the age of 30 has the same chance of getting pregnant with her frozen eggs thawed at age 40, as is the success rate at age 30.
